Pool-heater brand guide
Pool heater brands we work on
Smell gas or hear a CO alarm? Leave first.
If you smell gas, a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm sounds, or anyone may have symptoms of CO poisoning, leave first and call 911 from a safe place. Do not use switches, phones, or anything that could make a spark nearby. Then call your gas utility or propane company.
See which models each guide covers
Suncoast repairs and installs natural gas and propane pool heaters from Pentair and Sta-Rite, Hayward, Jandy, Raypak and Rheem. We work at homes in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Colin confirms the exact model and your address before he books the work. Pick your brand below to see what to note before you call. Suncoast Pool Solutions is an independent service company. We are not an authorized dealer, warranty center, or manufacturer-certified service provider for any brand listed here. Brand names belong to their owners. From model to message to next step

- Check for danger firstGas smell, smoke, fire or a CO alarm? Leave and call from a safe place. Skip the rest.Safety steps
- Find the modelRead it from the label on the outside of the heater. Do not open a panel.Model list
- Copy the messageWrite every letter and space. Note if it is steady or flashing, and if it came from the heater, a control system or an app.
- Match bothFind your model, then your message. No match? Do not borrow a meaning from another model.Message lookup
- Take the next safe stepNote only what you can see from where you stand. Then call Colin with the model and the message. A technician finds the cause.
Repair or a new heater? Two different calls.
A repair call starts with what the heater is doing. Colin checks the heater and the equipment around it. He explains what he found and the next step he recommends, then gives you a price. How repair works
An installation call starts with the heater you have now and the spot where the new one will go. The fuel, the gas supply, the controls and local rules all matter. How replacement and installation work
If your question is about the gas line, the regulator or the tank, that is gas-service work. (The regulator is the part that sets the gas pressure.) Gas services
Safety first
If you smell gas, see smoke or fire, or think carbon monoxide is possible, do not stay to look at the heater or take photos. Move everyone away. Do not use switches or anything that could make a spark. Then call from a safe place. If you see smoke or fire, call 911. If carbon monoxide is possible, get to fresh air and call 911. If you smell gas and the heater uses natural gas, call 911 and your gas utility. If you smell gas and the heater uses propane, call your propane company, or 911 or the fire department.
Before you call, stay outside the cabinet
When none of that applies, note only what you can already see. Do not open or remove any panel or cover.
- the brand and model on an outside label
- the exact words or code on the display
- the fuel, only if a label says it
- whether the problem is with pool heat, spa heat, or both
A wide photo of the whole heater also helps.
Brand guides
- Pentair and Sta-Rite. MasterTemp, Max-E-Therm, ETi and older MiniMax heaters, plus what Pentair says about its warranty.
- Hayward. Universal H-Series heaters, and why the exact model on the label matters.
- Jandy. JXi, JXiQ, Hi-E2 and older Jandy heaters, plus what to mention if a control system runs the heater.
- Raypak. AVIA, AVIA HD with NiTek, Digital and Above Ground heaters, and why old and new AVIA labels matter.
- Rheem. Rheem gas pool heaters, how to read the model number, and what Rheem lists today.
Match the message to the right manual
One brand can have several manuals for different heaters. The same message can even mean something else on another model. For example, Raypak's Digital and AVIA heaters can both show Ign 60 min Delay, but the cause differs. So copy the full model from the outside label. Then pick your brand's guide above. Each guide lists the models and manuals it covers.
A message points to what the heater sensed. It does not prove which part failed. Do not open any panel to look for the cause. If your model or message is not in a guide, do not guess. Write down the exact words and the full model. Give both to Colin when you call.
Which models each guide covers
Each brand guide has a message lookup for the models in the middle column. The last column lists models that get a note only. If your model is in neither column, copy the model and the message and give both to Colin.
If the table looks cut off, swipe or scroll sideways to see all three columns.

What a repair visit costs and when you approve the work
- You hear the fee first. A repair visit is a service call. You are told the service-call fee before the visit.
- It pays for the first hour. That is Colin's first hour of on-site checking and testing.
- It is due either way. You pay it whether the repair is done, approved or turned down.
- Anything more needs your OK. Extra labor, parts, or a permit if one is needed cost extra. Colin needs your approval in writing or by text first.
- Then a total price. After the diagnosis you get a total-price quote. It is good for 15 days from the date it is issued.
- No surprise work. No repair or installation work starts until you approve that total price.
Read the full fee and quote rules
Call Colin at 941-961-9337, Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The call starts a review. It does not lock in a time, a price or a result.
